The Protection and Rehabilitation Center “AMAN" which is one of the centers of the Qatar Social Work Foundation is participating in Ramadan Book Fair organized by the Ministry of Culture, represented by the Qatar Cultural and Heritage Events Center (QCHEC). AMAN participates through 'My Book is My Friend' Initiative by providing several vending machines for selling children's books and stories. This Initiative contributes to achieving the strategic goals of the Center by raising the awareness and education of the targeted groups of children, as well as activating the principle of social partnership between all external bodies.

The Fair will continue until the 5th of April at Darb Al- Saai Square.

Ms. Hanan Al Ali- the Director of the Communication and Information Office at AMAN Center stressed the keenness of the Center on participating in the national fairs related to culture and books through activating the principle of social partnership by presenting the contributions of AMAN Center in the field of educating and raising the awareness of children via 'My Book is My Friend' Initiative which sells children's books and stories. These machines work with the same mechanism as the spread vending machines that sell beverages and candies. These vending machines were designed according to the specifications appropriate for children, taking into consideration the child's height, usage and instructions should be easy for the children, in addition to providing selected books and stories that are appropriate and useful for children. 

Ms. Hanan Al- Ali also pointed out that these machines were distributed in the most important places of children's gatherings in the State, such as Malls that are close to the play zones, cinemas, public parks, and children's clinics.

For her part, she affirmed the interest of the Social Awareness Department in the Center in preparing and designing new and innovative programs to protect our children, as well as using modern technology means to attract children and achieve our mission of providing social protection to eliminate violence. We annually seek to participate in 'My Book is My Friend' Initiative at Doha International Book Fair, in addition to presenting some awareness workshops for children.

In such cultural events, we collaborate and pool our efforts with different external sectors in order to achieve our joint goals with the aim of always providing what is best for our community.

It is worth mentioning that AMAN is concerned with protecting and rehabilitating women and children who are the victims of violence and family disintegration to reintegrate them into society.
